GIF-making

Summer is the perfect time to try things you’ve never done before. Personally, I’ve always been very interested in animating my illustrations but have been dreading the complexity of the process. Trying my hand at GIF-making therefore seemed the perfect compromise.

 First off, I took a Skillshare class on turning an illustration into a GIF. This class was taught by American illustrator Libby Vanderploeg and made the process seem very managable. You mostly have to focus on planning out your layers before animating your GIF using the timeline tool in Photoshop.

 Looking back, this project was relatively time consuming but I’ll definitely use it again. I’ve already been looking into making a bit more intricate short animations combining Photoshop and After Effects, thought that will take longer to master…
