Keeping up with my sketchbook

I constantly have trouble keeping up my sketchbook practice. It always feels like I have more important obligations: coming up with new projects, exploring techniques or simply produce (finished) artwork.

Unsurprisingly, it took me a long time to realize that working in my sketchbook is not unlike keeping a tight running schedule when you are up for a marathon. The more you practice, the easier you get into the flow.

I now try to regularly carve out time to just randomly doodle in my sketchbook, do observational drawing or join in with online drawing communities (such as The Good Ship Illustration or Life Drawing Glasgow). Given the present circumstances, it’s not alway possible to draw at any location or to join a life drawing class (at least not where I live).
