The heiress (project 3 - part 8)

Around the time of the final review I attended a cover design workshop from Orange Beak Studio. I had felt overwhelmed by the prospect of fabricating a cover for such an elaborate story such as “The Heiress” so this was exactly the nudge I needed to just do the work.

After the workshop I chose one of the designs I’d made and created the actual cover (as shown above). Overlaying the background with a grainy texture really seemed to tie the image together. I then started thinking if this might be the right way to go with the whole project: uniting the different materials and techniques I've been using with textures such as these. Over the next few days I avidly worked on new pieces and reworked old ones:

I was quite happy with the results and felt I was moving in the right direction to finish up this project for hand in. The scanned in textures and drawings I used, (re)working on the images for The Heiress can be found at the end of blogpost 30.
