Adventures in Tetra packaging
John’s home printmaking tips inspired me to experiment with dry needle/collograph prints using the cardboard from Tetra packaging. The easy process and inexpensive material resulted in me being less precious than I’d normally be in preparing a plate. I also found it a lot easier to scratch these cardboard plates than acetate ones so I could make bolder marks.
I scanned some of the prints into Photoshop to further play adding colour to them. With the mountain print I found some interesting textures that had been left behind on a scrap of paper I used for cleaning up the plate. I decided to try and see if I could use this texture to add digital colour to the original. This resulted in an image that reminded me of older Japanese prints.
